Walmsley Unitarian Chapel – A place for all

Our Chapel records

We conduct all Rites of Passage here at Walmsley and keep records of Weddings, Burials, Interments and Baptisms.

We hold Marriage Registers until 2021, since when the changes to marriage legislation mean that all marriage information is now held at the Local Register Office in Bolton.

We have recently undertaken a reconciliation of information held relating to burials and interment of ashes in our Graveyard and Memorial Gardens. We have records going back to 1721 to the present day. This information is being digitised and will hopefully be ready by the end of April.

We are mindful of the sensitivities that some Rites of Passage bring and are also aware of personal data protection issues and will not divulge any information which is not legitimately in the public domain.

We have also uploaded photographs of many of the graves to the national website “Find a Grave”. Enter ‘Egerton, Bolton’ in the ‘cemeteries’ search box; then scroll down and select Walmsley Unitarian Chapel.
